Public Notice: Bloomington RAD I Waitlist Opening on June 30th, 2020

Bloomington Housing Authority (BHA) will open the waitlist beginning June 30, 2020 for the Bloomington RAD I Project Based Vouchers in 1, 2 & 3 bedroom units at Reverend ED Butler & Walnut Woods Apartments.

 

Reverend ED Butler Apartments (formerly public housing) is located on Bloomington’s west side in the 1200 & 1300 block of 11th and 12th St.

 

Walnut Woods (formerly public housing) is located on Bloomington’s south side in the 800 block of E. Miller Dr. & 1700 block of South Park Ave.

 

Applications will be accepted online on the Housing Authority’s website at:

 

www.bhaindiana.net.

 

Who Can Apply?

At least one person in the household must be a US citizen or legal resident. Household income must be at or below the 50% AMI guidelines below.

In addition, you must qualify for a 1, 2 or 3 bedroom unit.  Please see the chart below to determine if you meet the family description for either a 1, 2 or 3 bedroom voucher.

The BHA will assign one bedroom for each two persons within the household, except in the following circumstances:

  • Persons of the opposite sex (other than spouses, and children of the same sex under 12) will be allocated separate bedrooms.
  • Live-in aides will be allocated a separate bedroom. Any dependents of a live-in aide will not be allocated any additional bedroom.
  • Single person families will be allocated one bedroom.

What do I need to apply?

Please make sure you have the following before you apply. The waitlist application does not allow you to save a partially completed application. If you have to leave the application before you finish it, your changes will not be saved and you will have to start the application over.

  • Full name and social security number for all family members.
  • Monthly income for the entire household
  • A mailing address.
    You must have an address where we can send mail.
  • A piece of paper and pen or pencil.
    You will need these to write down a confirmation number that you will get at the end of the application process. This confirmation number will be proof that you have applied. BHA staff will not be able to retrieve this confirmation number for you, please write it down or print the page it appears on.

How to Apply?

You can only apply online at www.bhaindiana.net. Paper applications will not be available.

 

What if I do not have internet access?

The public is welcome to use the BHA computer lab located at 1002 N. Summit St., Bloomington IN 47404. The computer lab is open Tuesdays from 9am-11 am & Thursdays from 12pm -3pm.

 

How will I know if my application is accepted?

You may check the status of your application by going to the website waitlistcheck.com or by calling 1-855-868-6739.  The waitlist status is updated the 1st Friday of every month.

 

Do I have to live in Monroe County to apply?

No, however, if you receive a Project Based Voucher you can only use it at Walnut Woods or Reverend ED Butler Apartments.

 

Can I apply more than once?

No. You can make only one application to this waitlist. You may apply to all other open waitlist in which you are interested.

 

How do I know if you got my application?

At the end of the application process, you will receive a confirmation number. Please write down this confirmation number or print the page. This is your proof that you applied. BHA staff will not be able to retrieve this number for you.

 

What if I am having trouble completing the application?

The public is welcome to use the BHA computer lab located at 1002 N. Summit St., Bloomington IN 47404. The computer lab is open Tuesdays from 9am-11 am & Thursdays from 12pm -3pm. There is assistance available for completing the application at the computer lab.

 

I have a disability and need assistance.

If you have a disability that prohibits you being able to complete this application, please call the BHA at 812-339-3491 during normal business hours.

 

If I fill out the application, am I sure to get Housing Assistance?

No, an application will does not guarantee placement, all applicants must pass a screening process and be income eligible.
